Benedetto Zaccaria is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies, Ca’ Foscari University Venice, within the framework of the research project “The Making of the Washington consensus: debts, assets, and power 1979-1991”. He is also external researcher of the ERC-funded project Pan-Eur1970s. He is a historian specialising in the European integration process and the history of the Cold War in Europe. He is the author of The EEC’s Yugoslav Policy in Cold War Europe, 1968-1980 (London, Palgrave Macmillan, 2016) and La Strada per Osimo. Italia e Jugoslavia allo specchio (Milan: FrancoAngeli, 2018). He holds a MA in International Politics and Diplomacy (2010) from the University of Padova and a PhD in Political Systems and Institutional Change (2014) from the IMT Institute for Advanced Studies Lucca, Italy. He has held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Alcide De Gasperi Research Centre of the European University Institute in Florence (2015-2017) and was Visiting Research Student at the IDEAS Center of the London School of Economics and Political Science (2013).
Within the framework of the project PanEur1970s, Dr Zaccaria addresses Yugoslav foreign relations towards processes of European integration, mapping the major economic and political actors which determined Yugoslavia’s views and policies towards economic integration in Western Europe.
